    Hello,

I’m heading to Sweden for the summer. Thinking of bicycling or public transportation. I used to hitchhike with great results (a few decades ago). How is the hitchhiking in Sweden?

    Hi Jack!

Biking and public transport can be a great combination in Sweden. Hitchhiking can be a bit more challenging though, as it’s rare for people to actually stop and pick up strangers. That said, we’ve had some help from other backpackers up in the far north of Sweden. Like anywhere, if it’s really bad weather, you might get the sympathy vote!

Do you have a route in mind?

    Dear RN,

Well, that’s fine about the hitchhiking, I’m probably a little old to be doing that. Actually, I have just bought a new bicycle and I plan on taking about six weeks to wander around Sweden and Finland. Mostly with the idea of taking saunas, playing music (banjo) and trout fishing as the main way to meet and have fun with people. What do you think?

    Hi Jack,

Sounds like an absolute dream! Did you get any further with your planning? There are some good public saunas in the big cities in Sweden.

    Hi Jack,
    I think it’s a great experience.
You often try both bikes and buses.
    Wish your trip is fun.
