About Routes North

Routes North is an independent travel guide covering the whole of Scandinavia (that’s Denmark, Norway and Sweden), plus Nordic destinations a little further afield, like Finland, Iceland and Greenland.

We started with one clear mission: to help people discover Scandinavia, regardless of their budget. Scandinavia can be super expensive to travel around, and we wanted to show that it’s possible to visit (and actually have fun!) without breaking the bank.

Since those early days, when we pounded the pavements of Stockholm and Copenhagen in search of cheap food and great places to stay, we’ve gone on to help people understand and appreciate all aspects of Nordic culture, from design and music to the region’s unique languages and culture. Each month, more than 150,000 people use our guides.

Meet Sean Keogan, the New Face Behind Routes North!

Hi there! I’m Sean, the new owner behind this travel blog. As an avid explorer, my passion for discovering new places has led me to some of the world’s most breathtaking destinations. One region that truly captured my heart is Scandinavia. While studying at the Copenhagen Business School, I had the privilege of immersing myself in the Nordic culture. I believe in the power of travel to open our minds and enrich our lives, and I’m excited to guide you through some of the most beautiful and awe-inspiring places that Scandinavia has to offer. If you’re looking for authentic travel insights, hidden gems, and tips to make the most of your Nordic adventure, you’re in the right place.

Sien Van de Wiele

Website editor

Hej hej! I’m originally from Belgium, where I worked in communications in Brussels before trading city life for Sweden’s forests. After countless summer road trips in my campervan exploring Scandinavia, I couldn’t resist moving to a cabin in the woods. At Routes North I look after the website and occasionally share blog posts about my adventures up north.
