Destinations

Sweden is a surprisingly varied destination with enough to keep you busy for a month or more. Most visitors start with one of the big cities – usually Stockholm or Gothenburg – but with a little bit longer you can make trips out into the beautiful countryside, home to lakes, forests and some wonderfully isolated islands. For a real taste of adventure, head to the far north, where you’ll be able to see reindeer, sled dogs and – if you’re lucky – the spectacular northern lights.

Transport and getting around

Sweden has a great public transport network and you’ll find that even fairly remote places are served by frequent buses and trains. Prices are also quite low, as long as you plan ahead. Just bear in mind that distances can be deceptively long – if you’re heading to the north of Sweden and are on a tight schedule, you might want to consider taking a domestic flight.
