Gothia Towers

Our Rating

Decent weekend rates

You shouldn’t have any problems spotting Gothia Towers. The three near-identical wings of this big conference hotel dwarf the surrounding buildings, soaring high above a busy junction.

Connected to Svenska Mässan, one of the biggest exhibition centres in Scandinavia, the hotel is primarily used by delegates and travelling businesspeople.

There are more than 700 rooms, the best of which are high up in the building and have impressive views over the Liseberg theme park, just across the road.

The hotel’s sheer size means it can feel a bit impersonal but the rooms are among the best in this price range, and there are some excellent restaurants onsite.

Gothia Towers Hotel in Gothenburg

If you don’t mind putting up with a limited view, then go for one of the standard rooms low down. These are quite spacious and come with wooden flooring, TV, a comfy armchair and a desk. When we visited, plans for smaller and more basic budget rooms were also being finalised.

Above the standard rooms (in terms of both altitude and price) there are premium alternatives. These rooms are not actually any bigger but have better views and a free pay movie is included in the room rate.

Larger suites are found on the 18th floor and up. Stay in one of these and you’ll get your own sitting room, a ‘VIP’ breakfast at the Heaven 23 restaurant, and access to the super-luxurious spa facilities at Gothia Towers’ sister hotel, Upper House.

Given that this place appeals mostly to business travellers, rates can rise dramatically during the week. But if you’re just visiting for the weekend, you should be able to get a supremely comfortable double for around 1100 SEK – not bad for this part of town.
