Hotel Mortensen

Overall 6

Great location, average rooms

Known as Hotell Baltzar until a name change, this central option on a busy pedestrianized street offers simple, mid-priced rooms.

Despite the new name, Hotel Mortensen’s interiors are still a bit old-fashioned, with furnishings that walk the fine line between antique and a bit worn out.

There isn’t much noise from the street outside, which is surprising when you consider the building’s age (it’s from the 19th Century) and how near it is to lots of busy shops and cafés.

Hotel Mortensen in Malmö

Breakfast is served buffet style in the ground-floor restaurant. It’s far more modern than the rest of the hotel and clashes with the old building’s tiled stairwells, but at least you get views out onto the street.

All rooms come with TV and wifi. The cheapest ones are quite small (especially the singles) but if you pay around 100 SEK extra per night, you’ll get a bit more space to spread out in.

Overall, we’d say this is a pretty average hotel in a very good location.
