Oh lordy! The beers at Brewdog Gothenburg are tasty. And we’ll say it straight up: they’re dead expensive too. Even at the cheaper end of things, a single glass of ale will cost you around 70–80 SEK. Prices for the stronger brews can climb as high as 250 SEK for just 33cl of craft beer.
Most of the beer served at Brewdog is imported – from Scotland (where this chain of bars originated), the USA, and Nordic neighbours such as Denmark and Norway.
There’s a bewildering list of drinks to choose from, packed with pale ales, barley wines, ciders, wheat beers and stouts. Some of these are so strong (we’re talking 16.5% ABV and up) that the bar recommends sharing them with a friend. On chalkboards set up around the place you’ll also find lists of the latest guest ales – just ask the bartenders if you want more information about a certain drink.
Inevitably, the beard ratio is high here: expect to see lots of 30-something guys getting stuck into the different poisons. On Friday and Saturday nights it feels a lot livelier; the tables fill up quickly so arrive early if you can.
Hungry? You can eat here too. Dishes on the mostly meaty menu (think homemade meatballs and herby sausages) cost around 160 SEK each. Naturally, there’s a beer recommended alongside each one.
