Meat the Greek

There’s no shortage of kebab shops in Gothenburg, but Meat the Greek does things a little differently. Trust us when we say that the fresh-tasting, authentically Greek grub here is a lot better than the usual greasy, post-pub food.

The main reason to come here is for one the excellent kebabs, served up in a tiny tiled shop daubed with graffiti in shades of purple and pink. Or, if you prefer, you can take your food to go.

The doughy, soft pitas served here are stuffed with deliciously salty ingredients like meatballs (Greek-style, not Swedish), souvlaki and chicken gyros. Veggie-friendly fillings are available too, and you can add sauces to the mix if you want an extra injection of flavour.

To get your chops around something healthier go for one of the salads, served with or without meaty toppings. This is essentially cheap takeaway food, so even the most expensive dishes (like the souvlaki plate) go for less than 90 SEK.

Following in the footsteps of Burgersson, right next door, Meat the Greek attracts a young, confident and fashion-conscious crowd; keep your eyes peeled for other cool restaurants popping up in this part of town.
