Scandic St Jörgen

Overall 7

Bland but comfortable

7

Bland but cheap and comfortable, Scandic St Jörgen occupies a large concrete building just off Gustav Adolfs Torg, in the centre of the city.

It’s very popular – so much so that there’s always been a big queue at reception when we’ve visited, with lots of guests trying to check in and out at the same time.

Lifts ferry guests up to the plain rooms, which have wooden floors and en-suite bathrooms.

The cheapest cabin-style rooms are windowless and small – to get a room with natural light you’ll have to pay a bit extra per night, though none of the rooms here have especially spectacular views.

Scandic Jorgen in Malmö

There’s a reasonably priced restaurant on the ground floor near reception (the attached bar sells nachos and other snacks to go with a beer or glass of wine). As is standard at Scandic hotels, you can buy chocolate and other snacks from a tuck shop in the lobby.

Breakfast is served up on the second floor, where you’ll also find a sauna, a gym, and meeting rooms named after different parts of the city.

Scandic St Jörgen is not the most exciting hotel in town. But the prices are low, the rooms are reasonable and the location is very handy for sightseeing. Book online for discounts.
