In the basement of a mid-range hotel off Drottninggatan and run by the same management, Hotel Micro is an extremely good budget option for anyone who’d rather not share a dorm.
The name gives the game away: rooms here are tiny and windowless, but are very clean and comfortable – it’s the kind of thing you’d expect from a big chain hotel, just on a much smaller scale.
One big difference is that bathrooms are along the corridor, rather than inside the rooms. There are separate areas for men and women and the facilities are super clean and fresh.
Rooms have a kind of bunk bed set-up, with a double bed on the bottom level and a smaller single bed up top. This makes Hotel Micro a good choice for a couple with a young child, or a couple of pals who want separate beds but don’t mind sharing a room to keep costs down.
Unfortunately there’s no kitchen here but guests can make use of a small TV lounge with its own microwave (we assume this is not where the name Micro came from). The bar in the hotel upstairs is also open to Hotel Micro’s guests. There’s even a place to iron shirts if you’re in town for an important meeting.
