A bit of a walk from the train station, this severe-looking brick building isn’t going to win any architectural awards. But the interiors at Liza Hotell, which is run as part of the Best Western chain, actually come as a pleasant surprise.
If you’re looking for a bit of mid-range comfort but don’t want to blow your budget, this place is well worth considering. The public areas feel fresh, modern and warm; candles flicker on the tables and there’s a cosy modern fireplace in the middle of the breakfast room.
We looked at two different types of rooms. There isn’t really much difference between them (they all come with flat-screen TVs and en-suite bathrooms), but those on the upper floor feel a little more up-to-date.
Some rooms at Liza Hotell have carpets instead of parquet flooring, so just tell staff if you have a preference for one or the other. It’s also worth noting that the rooms described as doubles here are actually twins, with two separate beds. Singles and family rooms sleeping three are also available.
Dinner buffets are offered here from Monday to Thursday, costing 100 SEK per person – great value for Swedish Lapland. Another benefit of staying here is the (small) indoor pool, which is free for guests to use. There’s also a gym and sauna, in case you need to warm up after a day outside.
Other facilities include ski storage, free coffee and tea, and easy parking right outside the hotel’s entrance.
