Up on the sixth floor above Skellefteå’s main shopping street (Nygatan), this small hotel has excellent-value rooms and a restaurant with great views over the city.
The 18 rooms are all tastefully decorated and well equipped, with en-suite bathrooms, cable TV and free wifi. Surprisingly, given the very central location, the rates are pretty reasonable – we were quoted 850 SEK for a standard double at the weekend.
Our advice would be to ask to see a couple of rooms when you check in, as some are a bit bigger than others, despite costing the same amount. Single rooms are also available.
Breakfast (included) is served in the cosy restaurant area on the same floor. At night, it’s open to the public as a classy candlelit bistro. If you don’t fancy eating here then there are plenty of places within a short walk of the entrance down at ground level. Driving? You can rent one of the hotel’s garage spaces for an extra 90 SEK – book ahead.
If you’re in Skellefteå at the weekend, this is a great central option. Prices do go up a lot during the week, however.
