Quality Hotel Skellefteå

Overall 8

Modern city hotel

8

Quality Hotel Skellefteå is a block back from the waterfront, on the site of Skellefteå’s old city hall.

That building, thought to have been the largest timber structure in Scandinavia, was pulled down amid protests in the mid-1950s and replaced by today’s sharp-edged block.

There are two main types of hotel room available inside the hotel. The older, cheaper rooms are fine but a little on the drab side, with dark wooden furniture.

Brighter and more comfortable are the more recently renovated superior rooms, which feel a lot more spacious and have solid pine-coloured desks.

The hotel takes good care of guests with free tea and coffee and comfy rest areas dotted around the public areas. Down at basement level there’s a hot tub and a good-sized sauna.

Verandan, the big bar running along the front of the hotel, is a good place to grab a beer – especially on Fridays when it runs a popular ‘after work’ buffet. Later on in the night it turns into a club.

Breakfast at Quality Hotel Skellefteå, which includes plenty of organic options, is included in the cost of the rooms.

Gay friendly.
