No-frills falafel

Ask a Swede to name the one dish they associate with Malmö and the answer may surprise you.

Lebanese immigrants brought falafel to Malmö in the 1980s and it quickly became the city’s go-to street snack. Today it’s still a big part of the culinary landscape, with cheap, simple kebab and falafel joints dotted around the city.

If you want to see what all of the fuss is about try Möllans Habibi, just off Möllevångstorget in the southern part of town.

Möllans Habibi is one of the best places for falafel in Malmö

Popular and simple, it does some of Malmö’s best falafel – it’s crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. A freshly made wrap stuffed with falafel, fresh salad and sauce costs just 20 SEK. If you want, you can add halloumi or kebab meat for a few kronor extra. Service can be slow here, but at least everything is done to order.
