Caffellini is easy to miss, thanks to the sheer number of other cafés and restaurants in the area, but it’s well worth seeking out. This place is as simple as it gets really: a great, cheap espresso bar with standing room only, ensuring a quick turnover of customers.
You’ll struggle to find better prices anywhere in Stockholm. Espressos here cost just 10 SEK. And you know what? The coffee is excellent. It’s easily as good as the stuff that’s served up at pavement cafés in Italy.
Lattes and cappuccinos are a bit more expensive, as you might expect, but still not bad for the middle of Gamla Stan.
Visit early in the morning and you’ll see a steady flow of locals coming in to kick-start their day with some caffeine. Word seems to be getting out among tourists, too.
Really the coffee is the main event here; if you want a snack then sandwiches, croissants and Cornetto ice creams are about the only concessions made.
