Since 1980, Norway has paid annual homage to the gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt, making Oslo’s Django Festival the oldest of its kind in the world.
Originally set up by Jon Larsen from Hot Club de Norvège, the Norwegian Django Festival has sparked similar celebrations in more than 50 countries worldwide.
The festival showcases the biggest names in string swing music, with an array of international performers. However, it also spotlights local Norwegian talent, recognising their passionate commitment and understanding of the genre.
Cosmopolite has served as the festival’s main venue since 1992, reinforcing its reputation as a melting pot of people, cultures and rich musical traditions.
