Abisko National Park in Swedish Lapland. This northern lights photography tour gives you a once-in-a-lifetime chance to join a world-famous aurora photographer on a sleigh ride into the beautiful
The tour begins at the Abisko Mountain Lodge, near Abisko Östra station, where your guide will kit you out with a professional-quality DSLR camera, plus overalls, a headlamp and all of the information you need for your northern lights tour.
Your guide will teach you how to get the best from your camera and then lead you outside to a snowmobile-driven sleigh that will whisk you through ancient Arctic forests and across frozen lakes, taking in incredible mountain vistas and pristine Arctic wilderness along the way.
When you arrive at the wilderness camp, you’ll realise what a remote and scenic location you’re in – it’s perfect for enjoying the northern lights. This is one of the darkest areas in Abisko, so you’ll have a good chance of taking excellent pictures of stars, galaxies, the milky way and the aurora borealis with virtually no light pollution.
Upon arrival your guide will help you set up your camera, and help you capture unforgettable images of the northern lights dancing above the mountains and Lake Torneträsk. While your professional photography guide helps you make the most of your camera, a professionally trained Arctic guide will prepare a glowing fire inside of a shelter, giving you an opportunity to go inside and warm up while waiting for more solar activity. The crackling fire also creates a beautiful glow in the camp that guarantees incredible images in virtually any weather condition.
As the evening continues your guide will serve you a light snack and a steaming mug of delicious, locally produced lingonberry juice. Combined with the northern lights, it’s enough to warm your body and soul, even on the coldest of Arctic nights.
This exclusive adventure is limited to 10 guests per trip and includes two highly trained leaders – one professional photographer and one professional Arctic guide (a much better guide-to-participant ratio than other aurora tours in the area).
