OK, I need figures! What’s the absolute MINIMUM I could live on in Sweden? I’ve seen bloggers saying they’ve done Sweden on 20 USD a day but is that really possible? Would be good to hear what you guys think.
Well you *could* live on next to nothing, but do you really want to? Even if you couchsurf and eat a few good meals every day then I think $20 is on the low end. I would aim to budget about $30 or even better $40 a day if you can. Hostels can still be expensive so I would certianly try couchsurfing.
Bambi is right. You could travel on next to nothing but will it be fun? Probably not. It costs money to take buses, ride trains and eat lunch. Remember that lots of bloggers are sponsored too, so they don’t have to dig into their own pockets as often!
You can survive on surprisingly little (free pasta and coffee at hostels, free sightseeing tours and so on) but I would recommend at least $40 a day in Sweden. Maybe less if you can stay with friends or couchsurf!
