Looking for tips / advice for 7/8/9 nights summer trip with teenagers aged 16 and 14. Definitely planning on 4 nights or so in Stockholm. Is this about right? What activities would appeal to teenagers? Also thinking of getting train to Gothenburg and flying home from there. Similarly any Gothenburg recommendations for teenagers welcomed. Finally is there anywhere en route between Stockholm and Gothenburg that would make a good stop off point, away from the big cities? Or coastal resorts in easy reach of either city?

Hello! Four nights is about right in Stockholm – have you thought about visiting the archipelago for one night?

Teenagers will probably like Södermalm (cool shops) or maybe try Gröna Lund if they’re into theme park rides.

If you make it over to Gothenburg then Liseberg is a much better theme park where they can safely hang out for the whole day. If they’re into outdoorsy stuff then both cities have great oppprtunities for cycling, kayaking and so on.

Any of the bigger islands north or south of Gothenburg would make a good stop for the whole family – Marstrand is a classic seaside area and there’s a cool fort there that you can look around! If that’s not your thing then there are lots of good restaurants and bars – it’ll be very busy during the middle of summer though 🙂
