A big hit with rockers, fans of Americana and tattooed men who look like they’ve got their trucks parked just around the corner, this SoFo bar-restaurant is pretty well obsessed with garlic.
There’s garlic in almost all of the food served up in the tiled dining room, which looks like it’s been lifted straight from some roadside diner in the US.
Eating options here go from the quite tame (like a caesar salad with olive and garlic croutons, for example), all the way up to fairly extreme. We’re talking crocodile meat and garlic-marinated bull’s testicles extreme.
And lots of the drinks are garlic-infused too. How about a garlic martini? Or maybe a garlic-flavoured shot to get the night off to a good start? Even the beer can be ordered with garlic bits floating around between the bubbles (trust us: one glass is enough).
So Garlic & Shots might not be the ideal place to go for a drink before a smoochy first date, but it is a lot of fun. Even if you don’t like garlic you can enjoy it: plenty of the 101 different shots available are garlic-free – and the burger bar downstairs does food that’s a little more… plain.
