Brasserie Elverket

Smart but pricey brasserie

7

Östermalm’s champagne and oyster set love Brasserie Elverket, a smart but pricey hangout near Stockholm’s history museum.

Brasserie Elverket is a popular spot on Saturday and Sunday lunchtimes, when brunch is served à la carte (unusual, as most places around here do brunch buffet-style).

Glimmering brass-coloured lampshades bounce light around the slick restaurant and there are shelves of full of wine running along one of the walls.

On Friday evenings there’s free tapas in the adjoining bar. Brasserie Elverket is a place for locals to see and be seen after work – ideally with a glass of Taittinger in your hand. Or a glass of Pimms. Or a Negroni. You get the picture.

For something cheaper there’s a great list of bottled beers to choose from, including English stouts and American porters.

Midweek lunches served here are on the expensive side with salads going for around 165 SEK apiece. Dinner menus change with the seasons but nearly everything has a distinctly French or Swedish twist – like boeuf bourguignon, or poached salmon with dill mayonnaise and gherkins. Mains cost around 200 SEK.
