Simplicity is the buzzword at HTL Stockholm – a funky, no-fuss hotel on Kungsgatan. If you’re planning to stay in Stockholm for a couple of days and are one of those people who travels with lots of gadgets, it’s a great option right in the middle of the city.

There are only two types of room to choose from: one with a window and one without. Both types of room are the same size (a very compact 13 sq m), and both have the same in-room amenities.

You get a small but well-designed en-suite bathroom, a TV that you can couple wirelessly with your phone or tablet (just in case you want to watch a film), and an in-room safe that’s designed to swallow most laptops.

Handily there are USB charging points inside the rooms as well as regular power sockets. This means that if you’re coming from the UK or USA, you won’t need to worry about bringing an international adaptor just to charge your phone.

Download the hotel’s app and you can also check in before you arrive and get the room ‘key’ sent to your phone. Alternatively you can leave it until you arrive and check in using a self-service machine. There’s no reception desk, leaving more room for the hotel’s big lobby bar, which serves lunch buffets throughout the week and makes a pleasant spot for a post-check-in beer.
