The world’s best Nordic combined skiers return to the sport’s home turf during the International Ski Federation’s World Cup in Lillehammer.
The World Cup is the most prestigious Nordic event after the Olympics, and the athletes here will be showcasing the skills that will potentially earn them gold in the 2020 Winter Games.
The three-day event includes ski jumping, cross-country skiing, and combined events for both men and women on ski courses that were originally built for the Lillehammer Winter Olympics back in 1994.
It’s surprisingly affordable to come along and cheer on your favourite skiers. For the full cultural experience, bring along the classic Norwegian (and slightly odd) ski-viewing snack – a thermos filled with warm water and hot dogs. Hopefully you’ll be able to stomach a few runs on the slopes afterwards.
Tickets for the various events will be available from late September and may sell out quickly. Check the Facebook page or the official website to be sure you grab your tickets early and don’t miss out on the action!
