It’s spring and the Swedish word for run is ‘springa’, so what better time to take part in Europe’s largest women-only marathon?
As temperatures begin to get warmer, the number of running events across Sweden explodes, with events ranging from park runs and city marathons to full ironman endurance events.
The Stockholm Women’s Half Marathon is not the first all-female running event (women’s runs over shorter distances are common) but it does break ground by offering a total distance of 21.1 km. It’s also the largest in terms of participants.
Organisers have also allowed the full distance to be turned into a two-part relay, so you and a friend can run split the kilometres between you, if you prefer.
