Take part in 18th-century Swedish history by visiting the interactive historical blacksmith village of Wira Bruk, around 90 minutes north of Stockholm by public transport.
Wira Spelen is an outdoor performance based on events during the 1700s, when Wira Bruk was an important blacksmith village facing the tribulations of war and unrest.
The annual play, which is in its 35th year, has taken place in all possible weather conditions, with no two performances the same. The ensemble cast consists of horses, goats, hens, a pig and around 100 amateur actors of all ages, along with about 10 professional actors, musicians and a choir.
Perfect for families, the play transports spectators to 1700s Wira Bruk and the everyday lives of its villagers and contains everything from joy, sadness and excitement to romance and humour. NB: there’s no performance on the 1st July.
