Raise your glass and make a toast to Oslo as the Norwegian capital hosts its tenth wine festival this February. Based around the waterfront neighbourhoods of Aker Brygge and Tjuvholmen, the festival promises two wine-packed days, with a focus on background knowledge and quality.
More than 100 events will take place in participating restaurants and bars, several of which are on the route of Vintoget (the Wine Train), that will take passengers on a tour of selected tasting venues.
Before and after the ride, you can immerse yourself in the world of grapes at SmaksTorget (the ‘Tasting Square’), where 25 importers will try to impress you with more than 300 wines.
The Oslo Wine Festival has events for both newbies and dedicated wine experts. So you can get a general introduction to the world of wine at the wine school, join the Art and Wine Walk, which combines three local galleries with tasting stops, or attend the prestigious Norwegian Championships for sommeliers.
