Whatever the time of day or night and wherever you find youself in Denmark this February, some talented jazz musicians will be performing somewhere near you.
Vinterjazz (‘Winter Jazz’) is a jazz music festival consisting of over 500 concerts held all across the country. The festival is lauded as a massive collaborative effort between 100 different venues and 25 organisers, in large cities and small towns across Denmark.
Some concerts are ticketed but a large number are completely free to attend. This year, British experimental jazz acts such as Fofoulah, Dinosaur and GoGo Penguin are playing, but there are also plenty of cross-country acts to see, such as Brazilian jazz star Egberto Gismonti playing with the Danish Lars Møller and the Orchestra. There’s a free app you can download for both iPhone and Android with all the programme info.
