Now in its 11th year, the independent art fair called Supermarket aims to give independent artists from around the world the chance to showcase their work. How? By allowing them to run the show.
The event was originally started in response to a commercial art fair taking place in Stockholm, and it still puts the focus firmly on lesser-known artists.
Supermarket includes several galleries, along with project spaces, stages and networking events, so visitors can quickly get a feel for what’s hot in Stockholm’s independent art scene.
The theme for the 2017 edition of Supermarket is ‘Intimacy’, with many of the exhibitions focusing on interpreting the concept.
The fair takes place at Svarta Huset (the Black House). It’s located next to Konstfack, Stockholm’s main art college, and is a 13-minute metro ride from the city centre. Get off at Telefonplan.
