Lighting up the dark days of autumn is the Stockholm Film Festival. The film bonanza, which boasts a wide and varied selection of close to 200 movies from 70 different countries, invades many of Stockholm’s cinemas for over a week and is a great opportunity to discover up-and-coming Swedish filmmakers.
Many of the films screened are from debuting directors, particularly since submission guidelines only accept films from directors who have made less than three films.
Alongside the screenings, there are also film quizzes, seminars, and opportunities to rub shoulders with celebrities or participate in discussions with the filmmakers.
In order to participate you have to register as a member, which can easily be done on the festival’s website. Once you have a membership you can choose to buy tickets for multiple showings.
If you are only looking to catch one movie, there’s a quick membership option with just a single showing. Get tickets early to ensure you get access to the movies you want to see!
