During its annual Culture Night the city of Stockholm rolls out its ‘purple carpet’ for a fun-packed programme of cultural events encompassing art, dance and music.
With over 100 different events taking place across the city from 6pm til midnight, this ambitious project aims to have something to quench the cultural thirsts of visitors and locals alike.
Happily for budget travellers, all of the entertainment on offer will be free, with many of the shows and concerts taking place in public places like squares and parks (and even on bridges). That said, if you’re planning to check out a popular event that takes place at a theatre or bar with limited space, it might be worth booking ahead.
The organisers hope for an evening of balmy Swedish springtime weather, so borrow a bike or go for a stroll and you’re sure to come across one of the many events. Alternatively, the soon-to-be-released programme for the day will contain addresses and nearest public transport stops for each individual event.
