A one-day picnic and electronic music festival that pops up across Denmark on consecutive weekends, Stella Polaris is hard to miss. Did we mention entrance is free? Yep, entrance is free.
A fun, easy-to-access festival with a kids’ area and a lineup that’s packed with movers and shakers from across the electronic music scene, Stella Polaris is held in picturesque scenery in two southern Danish cities (Sønderborg and Kolding) as well as Aarhus and Copenhagen.
Entrance is free and bringing your own picnics and drinks is encouraged, so the event is budget-friendly as well as easy-going. You can of course buy food there if you prefer. Check the website for the latest on which acts are playing this year.
Now in its 22nd year, Stella Polaris has built up popularity and goodwill around Denmark, although it is worth keeping an eye on the weather forecast – in 2015, it rained so hard that the Aarhus edition of the event was postponed by a day before eventually being held in a soggy Botanical Gardens.
Here are the exact dates for the 2019 event:
Kolding (held at Kolding Hus) – 26th July
Sønderborg (held at Sønderborg Castle) – 27th July
Aarhus (held at Aarhus Botanical Gardens) – 28th July
Copenhagen (held at Frederiksberg Gardens) – 3rd August
