Internationally renowned sand artists will arrive in the pretty seaside town of Hundested, Denmark, this summer to create 10 giant sand models.
This is the sixth time Hundested has hosted its annual sand festival and this year’s event comes with a historical theme, so the presence of a Viking or two and maybe even a castle among the sculptures is not beyond the realms of possibility. The details in the sand sculptures are incredible, the artwork a mixture of the symbolic, illustrative and abstract.
The exhibition is located in a large enclosure normally used to house boats – coloured lighting effects shine over the sand creations to add to the special atmosphere.
A sandpit will be provided to entertain kids and parents can also try their hand at sculpting or admire the works from the comfort of the festival’s café.
