Just a 25-minute drive west of Helsinki city centre awaits a treat for lovers of classical music at the 10-day biennial PianoEspoo piano festival.
The festival’s first key was struck in 1991 and since then a string of fabulous pianists have played here. Early November will once again provide a chance to experience the masters of the black and white keys, as well as grand orchestras and great singers.
In collaboration with the Finnish National Opera and the University of Arts Helsinki, PianoEspoo starts on November 1st with an opening performance of ‘Across the Atlantic’.
The festival also features the re-creation of a classic Beethoven concert and the brand new Tapiola Youth Piano Competition at the Espoo Cultural Centre. This prestigious contest features some of the world’s most talented piano players aged 11 to 15.
