Bohemian, beautiful and vibrant, Øya Festival is not to be missed if you find yourself in Oslo this summer. Full festival passes will probably have sold out by the time you read this but day tickets may still be available for this scorcher of an event, which is Norway’s biggest summer festival.

Showcasing summery Norwegian tunes and plenty of international acts, the hugely popular festival takes place across six stages in a lovely green area that’s been converted into a sprawling festival complex. The event stretches from the Tøyenparken park, by the Munch Museum, and into the Oslo Botanical Gardens.

The festival has no age limit and the atmosphere is friendly and easy-going. Once concerts finish at
around 11pm, parties get going at satellite events around the city.

The line-up is impressive to say the least: this year the festival will host Kendrick Lamar, Arctic Monkeys, Patti Smith and Arcade Fire, among many many others.
