Winter can feel the longest and darkest in January, when the cold air stings your face and the sun peeks out for only a few hours each day, usually behind some dull grey clouds.
If the winter season is getting you down and you’re feeling the need to clear your mind and move your body, then you might want to check out the Oslo Yoga Festival, which takes place over the last weekend in January.
The festival features classes for people of all skill levels, including courses for those who have never tried yoga before. From extended meditation workshops to short classes showing unique yoga styles, there’s plenty of variety on offer for everyone with an interest in yoga.
If you need to stock up on supplies, check out the festival’s market which offers workout gear and yoga equipment, plus books and health foods from local and international companies.
The event is held at two locations in the Sagene neighbourhood – Sagene Samfunnshus at Kristiansands gate 2 and Sagene Kunstverksted at Drøbakgata 1. Check the website for specifics on the different classes and their locations. Be sure to bring your own yoga mat, a bottle of water, and indoor shoes.
