Held in mid August, Oslo Jazz Festival is a relative veteran of Oslo’s summer music programme, with around 80 concerts taking place at up to 18 venues around the Norwegian capital.
Despite the festival’s long history, organisers aim to put on a modern show and the fact that there are shows held around town gives Oslo a bit of a different pulse while the event is on.
Now a well-recognised event amongst jazz enthusiasts outside of Norway, the festival sees local and international stars playing at clubs and concert venues – sometimes you’ll even see them doing spontaneous improvisation sessions out on the street.
Bigger concerts are held at some of the city’s most impressive live music venues; both the Opera House and Oslo Concert Hall host events.
The type and cost of concerts is broad in range, so it’s worth browsing the programme and planning your time wisely.
