Now in its 15th year, Oslo Culture Night packs a kaleidoscopic range of cultural events into one long evening. A variety of concerts, classes, lectures, exhibitions, tours, and dance shows are all available on this fun-filled night when the city’s streets fill with young and old.

During the event you can see video art, watch light installations and street performances, or listen to live music and attend Bollywood dance classes. You can even go on a sewer safari.

There are more than 250 activities taking place at a total of 200 venues across Oslo. Events are scheduled all over the city, so wherever you find yourself there’s sure to be something worth checking out.

In addition to the cultural activities, several buildings will be offering special access on Culture Night. In recent years the Norwegian Parliament building, for example, has opened its doors for the public to explore, while the haunting, evocative Emanuel Vigeland Mausoleum offered special nighttime tours.

If past years are anything to go by, the Oslo City Hall will allow visitors access to the roof on one of its two towers, from where you can enjoy a fantastic view across the harbour and the city. This is one of the only times the tower is open to the public, so the lines are long every year – if you’re interested, come early!
