Nyhavn
København K
Denmark
Copenhagen’s most famous harbour, Nyhavn, serves as a backdrop for many a tourist snap. With its rows of colourful buildings and connection to Denmark’s most famous historical figures (including the one and only H C Andersen), it’s not hard to understand why.
The Danish capital hosts several Christmas markets during November and December and while the one at Nyhavn will be packed with people, it’s definitely worth a visit. The harbour’s iconic buildings will be decked out in Christmas lights and stalls selling Danish Christmas handicrafts, food and hot drinks will line the pier.
Stroll along the waterfront and soak up the surroundings. The scent of baked treats and mulled wine wafting through the air and musicians playing Christmas tunes create a very cosy (or should we say ‘hyggelig’) atmosphere, making this event the perfect backdrop for a romantic date with that special someone.
