Want to see a Viking battle fought by sword- and spear-wielding warriors? This event in Denmark might just be as close to the real thing as you can get.
Held at the fascinating Moesgaard Museum just outside of Aarhus, the Viking Moot is the culmination of a week of Viking-related activities that visitors can participate in and observe, including archery sessions and a traditional market with period crafts.
The clear highlight of the Moot is the enthralling replica battle on horseback and on foot between the authentic-looking Viking soldiers. It all culminates with the ‘Circle’, a battle in which only the last Viking left in the circle can be crowned the winner.
The Viking warriors cross swords at 3pm on both Saturday and Sunday during the week of the Viking Moot.
