Hollufgård, south of Odense, is a beautiful Renaissance manor house dating from 1577, but for five days near the end of the summer, it hosts a celebration of sword fights and blood-thirsty battles.
Part historic festival, part clash between knights and Vikings from all over Europe, Medieval Days in Odense focuses on the time periods from 793 to 1066 and 1532 to 1536. Come and watch dramatic sword duels and battles between blood-thirsty warriors in heavy armour. Watch real Vikings play a game of capture the flag. Or test your bow-and- arrow skills in an archery competition.
Too much action? Then settle in at the inn for a swig of mead and listen to some medieval music. This event is a great way to get your battle-fix after endless episodes of Game of Thrones and Vikings. And who knows, you might even meet your knight in shining armour?
