Kødbyen – Copenhagen’s Meatpacking District – is reopening its weekend street food market for the summer.

One of Copenhagen’s growing number of revitalised former industrial areas, the meatpacking district retains its gritty look while now boasting a street-food market that its fashionable Manhattan namesake would be proud of.

As well as stands offering traditional Danish food like the bøfsandwich (a Danish hamburger with an astonishing amount of gravy poured over it), the market also sells fresh produce for those that want to try some Nordic cooking at home.

Filling lunches can be had at wallet-friendly prices – the organisers keep stand rentals low in an effort to pass the discount on to customers – and themes and stallholders vary on a weekly basis, so hungry foodies are likely to discover something new on every visit.
