Also known as Love & Anarchy, the Helsinki International Film Festival has taken place annually in Finland since 1988.
The country’s biggest and most important film festival, it attracts thousands of movie fans and filmmakers to the capital’s silver screens.
Over the last 30+ years, it has grown from screening 26 films in two venues, to featuring 160 full-length films and 190 short films in 2018 in 20 movie theatres across the city.
Along with a massive audience of 60,000, important filmmakers come to meet their fans and catch up with colleagues in the industry. Stars like Spike Lee, Danny Boyle and Baz Luhrmann have previously attended – and who knows who’s booking the ticket this year?
Love & Anarchy aims to cover new films from well-known directors as well as giving up-and-coming talents much-needed screen time. So there will be something for everyone to enjoy once the lights are dimmed and the scent of salty popcorn spreads across the room.
