Just a 15-minute drive from the Olympic city of Lillehammer, the Hunderfossen Fairytale Park turns into a magical winter wonderland every February. The park is one of Norway’s best-loved family attractions, and not even a layer of snow and ice can cool the excitement from thousands of visitors, who come here to live out their own fairytale.
Surround yourself with trolls and witches and visit the spectacular ice cathedral, a popular setting for winter-themed weddings. Admire the snow-capped wooden castle and take a horse-drawn, torch-lit sleigh ride in the dark.
You can even stay at Scandinavia’s southernmost snow hotel, or simply head to the ice bar and sip your drink from glasses made of pure ice.
The park, the cathedral and the ice hotel will feature a dazzling display of snow and ice sculptures, created by the world-renowned artist Elisabeth Kristensen and lit up in many colours.
And it all ends each night with a festive firework show in the night sky. The park will be open on selected days in February, so check the website first.
