The beginning of February will see the 46th annual Holmenkollmarsjen (The Holmenkoll March) take place. This classic cross-country ski race is open to both experienced skiiers and those wanting to take on a lighter challenge.
Thousands of participants will follow two different routes of 52 and 25 kilometres respectively through a stunning winter scenery of snow-covered pine trees north of Oslo. Both routes set out from Sørkedalen and end up at the famous Holmenkollen ski jump area near the city.
Note that it takes some experience of cross-country skiing to take on this challenging race and all participants need a ski license, though this is available just for the day. Also the race is weather dependent, and in case of bad weather an alternative date will be set. Prices vary depending on distance and age.
