Every two years the spirit of unity and religious respect is celebrated in Stockholm’s Kungsträdgården on Francis Day. The event kicks off with a saints’ procession through the park and is a unique opportunity to experience some of Sweden’s enduring Catholic traditions in an open-air setting.
Following the procession, Cardinal Anders Arborelius leads Mass on the main stage. Whether you’re religious or not, the atmosphere of this public ceremony, set against the backdrop of Stockholm’s green heart, makes for a memorable experience.
After Mass, the park transforms into a massive family-friendly party, with a warm, convivial atmosphere true to the spirit of Scandinavian hospitality.
You can also attend a seminar led by Father Michel Remery, author of Twitter with God and Online with the Saints. Held in the grand hall of the nearby St. Eugenia Church, it’s an insightful exploration of how St. Francis’ principles can be applied in modern times.
