Open-air museum and Aarhus institution Den Gamle By (The Old Town) invites you to celebrate Easter in its 18th-century cobblestone streets and 1970s bakeries.
Den Gamle By is an open-air museum with 75 historic buildings from several different periods, including the 1800s, the 1920s and the 1970s. Visitors can wander in and out of the time capsule-style houses, shops and museums, interacting with period-accurate ‘inhabitants’ who act like they live there.
The museum regularly holds ‘living history’ events in which national holidays and other occasions are celebrated in the way Danes did it decades and centuries ago.
These events include Easter, of course, and this year is no exception. The full programme is yet to be announced, but expect treasure hunts, glowing bakers’ ovens and priests in full vintage garb.
