A sprawling, city-wide street party and a celebration of dance music all rolled into one, Distortion brings five days of Danish hedonism to the centre of Copenhagen.
Started in 1998 and now a legendary event on the Copenhagen calendar, Distortion takes place at both indoor and outdoor venues and on the streets of the city.
There are three main locations: the Distortion Club, which hosts underground nightclub events; the
outside festival site called Distortion Ø, which opens on the third day; and the self-styled ‘civilised hedonism’ of the Distortion street parties. You can gain access to the street events by purchasing the ‘Distortion street armband’ (130 DKK) which helps to pay for the clean up job once festivities are over. Alternatively, you can buy day passes for the Friday or Saturday, or the Distortion pass, which gives access to the full five days of events in all the venues.
Acts this year include US rapper Rico Nasty and German techno/house duo the Adana Twins, plus plenty of home-grown talent. You can see the full line up on the festival’s website.
