Copenhagen Photo Festival is an annual early-summer event that places photography at the forefront with a week and a half of exhibitions, workshops, photography trips, portfolio reviews and more.
Taking place in collaboration with photographers in southern Sweden, which is just across the bridge, the festival will be easy to enjoy, with photos and exhibits appearing across the city in unusual places, including the city’s public transport network and on various walls and fences.
The hub of the festival is based at Understationen, an old electric works in the laid-back Østerbro neighbourhood. Between 5-10 exhibitions will be taking place at any time throughout the festival’s 11-day run, and there will also be a stage for talks and debates about all things photography
With almost 50,000 people attending recent years’ events, in which over 3,000 Danish and foreign photographers of a myriad styles have displayed their works, this photo festival is developing fast. Best of all for budget travellers, it’s completely free to attend.
