Think Scandinavians are stylish? There’s a good chance Copenhagen Fashion Week (CPHFW) will confirm those beliefs.

Twice a year – during February and in August – the city becomes a hub for trendsetters, fashion lovers and style gurus.

It’s not all about sitting around and staring at a catwalk, though – events on during the week include unusual exhibitions, street parties, small concerts, competitions and shopping offers. You can see the full schedule here.

A stereotype of Danish fashion is that everyone wears black all the time. We don’t want to say whether that’s true (you can judge for yourself), but there is certain simplicity and elegance to Denmark’s fashion scene.

Copenhagen actually holds this event twice a year, in February and August, giving you the chance to spot the styles you’ll need for next season, whether it’s going to be warm or cold.

If you check out Fashion Week, make time for the CIFF trade show that runs alongside. It’s a perfect opportunity to rub shoulders with brands big and small, and get a sneak peek at upcoming trends. One other cool thing about Copenhagen Fashion Week is that it aims to put eco-conscious practices and environmental responsibility centre stage, and there’s a lot of chatter about green being the new black.
