The Copenhagen Cooking and Food Festival is a 10-day extravaganza combining over 100 separate events, which together highlight the very best of Copenhagen and Denmark’s gastronomic offerings.
Celebrating its 16th year in 2018, the festival is a real culinary spectacular – a combined 80,000 visitors are expected to turn up, making this the largest food festival in Scandinavia.
The events run the gamut of food experiences, from free outdoor gatherings to high-priced culinary encounters with Michelin star chefs. The budget-conscious will want to check out the Copenhagen Veggie Festival on 24th and 25th August, a free event with stalls selling 100% plant-based food (there are also food workshops taking place across the Friday and Saturday).
From 11am on the 25th there will also be a special ‘seed exchange’ at Puglisis Farm in Lejre, west of downtown Copenhagen. Other culinary delights to look forward to during the festival include a ‘food crawl’ (like a pub crawl but with restaurants instead of bars), cocktail-making classes, a crayfish party, and the chance to learn how to make that most Danish of drinks – akvavit.
You need to purchase individual tickets for each event during the festival, and some events are already sold out; hurry over to the festival’s website and grab yourself a place at your favourite event before it’s too late!
