‘Jul i Vinterland’ is proof that the Norwegian capital is serious about being a fun and festive Christmas destination. Some years Norway’s largest Christmas market attracts up to 2 million visitors to Spikersuppa square in central Oslo for the six-week-long event. 

Submerge yourself in the scents of grilled sausages and warm Christmas porridge, and be tempted by glazed apples, chocolate-covered waffles and traditional Norwegian cakes and biscuits. Sip mulled wine and explore the arts and crafts stalls near Oslo’s famous Karl Johan street.

Browse through the ceramics and glassware, warm woollen clothing and Viking-style jewellery in silver and bronze – and you might just find the perfect gift for someone back home.

Oslo’s Winterland is full-on Christmas fun for the entire family with plays, free concerts, theme park rides and, of course, an ice rink.
